KANYAKUMARI BEACH

Kanyakumari Beach is situated at the southernmost tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. VIVEKANANDA ROCK

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial is situated on a small island in the middle of the sea, just off the coast of Kanyakumari Beach. It is a memorial to the great Indian philosopher and spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda, who is said to have meditated on the rock for two days before embarking on his spiritual journey. The Vivekananda Mandapam is the main attraction of the memorial and houses a statue of Swami Vivekananda. The hall is designed in a unique architectural style and is open on all sides, allowing visitors to enjoy the cool sea breeze and the stunning views of the sea. The hall also has a meditation room where visitors can meditate and pray in peace.

THIRUVALLUVAR STATUE

The Thiruvalluvar Statue, one of the tallest statues in India, standing at a height of 133 feet (40.6 meters) is located on a small island near Kanyakumari Beach. It is a statue of the Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, who is known for his work “Thirukkural,” a collection of 1,330 couplets on ethics and morality. The statue stands on a pedestal that resembles a temple gopuram (tower) and has 38 sections, representing the 38 chapters of the Thirukkural. The statue has been designed in such a way that it appears to be emerging from the sea, giving it a majestic appearance.

GANDHI ASHRAM

The Gandhi Memorial Mandapam, also known as the Gandhi Memorial, is a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation and one of the most revered leaders in the history of India. The Gandhi Memorial Mandapam is situated on the spot where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were kept before immersion in the sea. The memorial was built in 1956 and is designed in a unique architectural style that blends both Indian and Western styles. Apart from the Gandhi Memorial Mandapam, there is also a Gandhi Memorial Museum located nearby that displays several personal belongings of Mahatma Gandhi, including his spectacles, clothes, and letters.

SUCHINDRAM TEMPLE

The Suchindram Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu trinity - Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and is renowned for its unique architecture and religious significance. The temple is famous for its towering gopuram (tower), which stands at a height of 134 feet (40.8 meters). The gopuram is decorated with intricate carvings and sculptures that depict various scenes from Hindu mythology. The most significant feature of the temple is the idol of the Trimurti - a single image with three heads representing Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The temple also has a musical pillar, which is said to produce seven different musical notes when tapped.
